Newsletter Edition | December 2013
Dear Members of the Global Network on Sustainable Lifestyles,

It is time for another update full of exciting news: the Testimonials from the BIG2050 workstudios are up and running!

Just before Christmas and the beginning of the New Year we would like to give you a quick update on what happened on the GNSL.

...the Ghana workstudio report is online?

Over 50 stakeholders gathered for the Ghana workstudio "Collaboration and Sustainability: A Multi-Sectoral Path for Growth". Participants explored the current state of sustainable lifestyles, identified key opportunity areas for innovation and entrepreneurship to achieve more sustainable living and co-created action plans for multi-stakeholder engagement to catalyse existing examples of sustainable innovation and support new sustainable living innovation in Ghana.

...CONSENSUS has new, exciting and useful features?

The Irish CONSENSUS research project on sustainable household consumption has designed a set of exciting, two-minute video animations on their research (available here). Since 2009, CONSENSUS has been conducting innovative social science research engaging over 100,000 members of the public and 100 government, private sector, and civil society stakeholders through workshops and interactive exhibits. The videos are showcased on a brand new project website - - containing CONSENSUS’s latest research documents, publications and a regularly updated blog.

CHECK OUT CONSENSUS can meet some of the participants of the "BIG2050" workstudios and share their experience?

As part of the "BIG2050" project, 5 workstudios were held all around the world. Participants of those workstudios discussed the impacts on/of their lifestyles and ways to make them more sustainable today. Some of the participants set down to record a video to share their thoughts on sustainable lifestyles and the workstudio with YOU!

HOT IS... give time instead of stuff!

Many of us already have too many things but too little time for each other. That is why this great initiative "Zeit statt Zeug" has been started. They offer a range of ideas, such as time to read a book rather than another book that gets dusty in the shelf, that you could give to your best friend, mother, brother etc. So instead of giving another dust trap, you can be giving and enjoying time with people you like.

CHECK OUT ZEIT STATT ZEUG choose the most sustainable way of transport

One of our members, Thomas Wagner, came across an interesting article saying that an average German plane uses 4 liters of fuel per 100 km per person. What do you think is the smartest option to travel and which one is the most sustainable one? Read more on what Thomas found out and share your thoughts and ideas on sustainable transport here.
